The opening of The Shelbourne in March 1824 coincided with the rebirth of Irish Whiskey in Dublin city. At the time Irish Whiskey was considered the finest in the world and exported to all corners of the globe with Dublin at the heart of this with five large distilleries.

At The Shelbourne we have re-invented and re-interpreted the use of Irish Whiskey to craft unique experiences.

Down through the years, The Horseshoe Bar has become a symbol of Irish hospitality in welcoming patrons through its iconic doors to a treasure trove of Irish and world renowned whiskeys, served with the knowledge and expertise of highly trained staff. Building on this, we have extended this same warm welcome throughout the hotel, enhancing our service to incorporate treasured Irish traditions.

With its own fascinating museum that showcases the hotel's illustrious heritage, and particular place within Irish history, it is only natural, that the Horseshoe Bar at The Shelbourne should also choose to celebrate another important tradition and one of the country's finest products - Irish whiskey.
